Grief And Loss: The Devastation in Japan and New Zealand: Violent Revolutions in North Africa

The catastrophe that is engulfing the world today like a gigantic tidal wave, violent revolutions in North Africa, the earth that struck New Zealand and the current catastrophe that is wrecking havoc in Japan now – the world witnessing the earth shaking and breaking up and swallowing people – literally burying people alive, all these leave us with one conclusion or concern, is this earth our home, what happened to this earth that it has now become our killer instead of our home? Is the Bible accurate in its account of the world that judgment is near and the whole place will become burning pitch?

These catastrophes remind me of the poem I use to admire as a teenager back in Africa. The poem use to move me into tears: The poem is entiltled "The Wild Swans At Coole" by William Butler Yeasts. Back in Africa, I used to read this point under a tree, birds singing on the tree, I cannot help but weep in ecstasy. If you look carefully on the title of the poem it is wild swans, they are called wild but they are at coole, relaxed. The poet here shows that wild things, bad things, catastrophes, whatever thing that crushes us down under their weight, the pressures of life, the temptations everywhere to become evil, the tricks and the wiles people trap us with we can still be at coole. In this violent world where people's lives are auctioned off to the highest bidder, where nothing seems to care but money we can still be at coole. The wild swans at coole!

Hello Chris. I sense your heavy heart. I would say the vast majority of people are feeling this now. I have not heard of this poet, but his words give cause to think about many things. We are living in a time when biblical prophecy is being fulfilled. We live in a world that is decaying and it does seem that the pace is picking up speed. I pray that hearts will turn to God. For wisdom, for healing, and forgiveness. God is merciful, just and Holy. I pray we will choose His mercy and not fall under His justice. Blessings to you! Teresa
