Confidence is the magic key for your path to greatness. What is the source of confidence and what is confidence? What are the characteristics of confidence? Before we attempt to answer these questions let us make the statement of the fact that confidence is a quality. It is not something tangible. Being a quality it is non-visible and therefore it is spiritual. You cannot see or handle confidence, but you can see its manifestations or effects, just like you cannot see or handle the wind but you can see its effects when it blows things like trees, providing a cooling to our bodies when the sun is hot. The wind though not seen is a powerful force.
What is confidence? I asked many people this question and the answers they returned included that confidence is the ability to stand up and talk in front of other people. That confidence is the willingness to try something new. Confidence is the willingness to go against what others are thinking or doing. Others see confidence as the willingness in somebody’s part to explore what has not been explored.
Confidence according to Webster's dictionary is full trust; belief in the reliability of a person; self-reliance; assurance or boldness; having no uncertainty about one's abilities.
Confidence is essential in our lives; without it, we will not make the first attempt to do what we really want. Confidence allows us to move forward despite discouragement. Confidence is the foundation of success. It is the vital ingredient for any achievement.
So to come full circle then learn this basic lesson: Confidence does not just mean a person is loud, or a person is ready to do some crazy things in front of other people. Confidence (once again, from the Webster's dictionary) means that you have no uncertainty about your own abilities.

I also think confidence is something that comes with life experience. The more one puts themselves 'out there' with success, the more confident they become.
To have confidence one must also have faith in what they are doing.
